Aftercare

We understand that some treatments may require downtime and aftercare, while others can be accommodated in a short break during your working day. We will provide you with guidance on how to care for your treated skin and advise you on activities to avoid. The good news is that dermal filler injections typically don’t require any downtime. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Preparation & Aftercare

PREPARATION

We recommend avoiding large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours prior to your treatment as this increases the risk of bruising.

If you are prone to bruising, you may consider getting Arnica cream or tablets over-the-counter. Arnica helps to minimise bruising and should be taken 5 days prior to your facial filler treatment.

Please kindly complete your medical history form prior to your appointment, this can be found in your booking confirmation email. If there has been a change to your medical history, please contact our cosmetic practitioner.

DURING PROCEDURE

Attend your appointment with little to no makeup on your face. We will remove any remaining makeup when you arrive at your appointment. This is highly important as it allows us to properly assess your face, as well as decreasing the risk of infection at treatment sites.

AFTERCARE

Here’s what not to do after treatment – we recommend the following precautions to ensure optimal results after your treatment.

You should avoid the following for 24-72 hours after your treatment:

Drinking an excessive amount of alcohol
Strenuous exercise
Prolonged exposure to the sun, sunbeds, steam rooms, hot baths, and hot showers
Touching, massaging, or rubbing the treated area(s)
Applying heavy makeup or skincare with active ingredients (such as retinols, vitamin C etc.) to the treated area(s)

Please avoid any further beauty/cosmetic treatments including (but not limited to) micro-needling, dermaplaning, facials, micro-blading, lasers, lip blush for 4 weeks after your treatment.

FAQ

Does treatment with dermal fillers hurt?

Treatment with dermal fillers are performed with either a sharp needle or blunt needle (also known as cannula). The majority of clients tolerate the treatment well with only minor discomfort however certain treatment areas such as the lips can be more sensitive than others. To increase comfort during your treatment we apply numbing cream to the area and use premium fillers that contain local anaesthetic.

How long does it take?

Prior to your treatment, our clinicians will thoroughly assess your face and go through the treatment plan as part of your initial consultation. This usually takes 30 minutes. Prior to the treatment itself we apply numbing cream to the areas being treatment which needs around 20 minutes to take effect. The actual treatment usually lasts 20-30 minutes.

When should I see results?

After treatment results are immediate however it can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to settle and integrate with your tissues.

How long do the results last?

Typically, results will last 6-12 months. However, for some individuals, results may last less or longer.

Are dermal fillers safe?

With any medical treatment there are potential side effects and risks. Our clinicians will discuss this with you thoroughly at your initial consultation. At Mèdha Aesthetics Clinic, we only use premium quality hyaluronic acid fillers which are reversible if a complication were to occur.
