Polynucleotides Overview

Polynucleotides are purified long-chain molecules derived from fragments of fish DNA. When injected into the skin, polynucleotides remodel the deep tissues on a cellular level by up-regulating fibroblast cells, boosting collagen and elastin production. Polynucleotides also scavage free radicals which further counteract skin ageing. The regenerative properties of polynucleotides offer many benefits that contribute to healthier, youthful and radiant skin.

Polynucleotides are perfect for the following concerns:

• Dull and dehydrated skin
• Sagging & crepey skin
• Wrinkles and fine lines
• Dark circles around the eyes
• Scarring

Treatment with Polynucleotides has the following benefits:

• Increases firmness and reduces the elasticity of the skin
• Improves skin texture
• Reduces the visibility of dark circles around the eyes
• Provides deep hydration resulting in smoother and dewy-looking skin
• Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Reduces the appearance of scarring

Preparation & Aftercare
PREPARATION

We recommend avoiding large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours prior to your treatment as this increases the risk of bruising.

If you are prone to bruising, you may consider getting Arnica cream or tablets over-the-counter. Arnica helps to minimise bruising and should be taken 5 days prior to your facial filler treatment.

Please kindly complete your medical history form prior to your appointment, this can be found in your booking confirmation email. If there has been a change to your medical history, please contact our cosmetic practitioner.

Attend your appointment with little to no makeup on your face. We will remove any remaining makeup when you arrive at your appointment. This is highly important as it allows us to properly assess your skin and decreases the risk of infection at treatment sites.

Polynucleotide treatments feel like a slight pinch or sting. Most patients do not require topical or local anaesthetic for pain relief. Ice and vibration are usually sufficient to minimise discomfort.

Here’s what not to do after treatment – we recommend the following precautions to ensure optimal results after your treatment.

You should avoid the following for 24-72 hours after your treatment:

  • Drinking an excessive amount of alcohol
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Prolonged exposure to the sun, sunbeds, steam rooms, hot baths, and hot showers
  • Touching, massaging, or rubbing the treated area(s)
  • Applying heavy makeup or skincare with active ingredients (such as retinols, vitamin C etc.) to the treated area(s)

Please avoid any further beauty/cosmetic treatments including (but not limited to) micro-needling, dermaplaning, facials, micro-blading, lasers, lip blush for 4 weeks after your treatment.

FAQ

When should I see results?
Generally, patients may begin to see initial improvements in skin quality weeks after treatment.
Generally the effects typically lasting several months. It’s important to note that two to three sessions is necessary to achieve and maintain the desired results.
We recommend an initial course of 2-3 treatment sessions, 2-4 weeks apart and then a single maintenance treatment every 6 months.
No, polynucleotides are not injectable dermal fillers. Unlike fillers that physically add volume, polynucleotides works by promoting skin and deep tissue regeneration. This results in improved skin appearance, tone and texture without adding volume.
Based on the area being treated and the method of injection (cannula or needle) your doctor may use topical numbing cream to minimise any discomfort.
